My Fair Katie

Now we're getting into the meat of Katie's argument about whether Spielberg is overrated.  And, speaking of meat, Katie and Scott try peanut butter cheeseburgers!!!   Why?  Well, if you have to ask, you haven't seen this movie.

Katie's scorching hot take about Steven Spielberg is tested this season.  For the first movie, We watch the classic movie about an alien invasion.  No, not E.T. or War of the Worlds, but Close Encounters of the Third Kind.  Grab an "ice cream" and enjoy finding out whether it still holds up almost 50 years later.

Katie and Scott discuss the body horror classic -- Scanners.  How many heads explode in the movie?  Could it have used more?  What genre is Scanners?  What happened to the eyes at the end?  They discuss this and more, including Lee Jeans!

Another movie inspiring Stranger Things is The Goonies.  The pair review this 80s kids classic.  Katie is back with some hot take, including one of the hottest takes in the history of movie reviews!

In episode 4.02, Katie and Scott review the movie Firestarter.  How does the move version of Stephen King's classic work as a movie?  How did it inspire Eleven?  Is it the worst movie they've ever reviewed?  

Katie and Scott kick off a new season with movies inspiring the hit TV show Stranger Things.  In this episode they discuss John Carpenter's The Thing.  New this season are the three sentence recap and the haiku review.  

Katie and Scott are locked in a room and the paranoia grows.  Which, if either, will get out alive?

We have moved on to character studies in sports movies.  In this episode, we review the Robert Redford movie, Downhill Racer.  Katie has maybe the hottest take in the history of podcasts.  You'll have to listen to find out what that is.  She won't back down, either!

In our only football movie of the season, we review Knute Rockne, All American.  Why aren't we reviewing Rudy?  Could Chris Pratt play football for real?  What happened to the "K" in Knute?  All excellent questions that we address in this episode.

We continue our sports biopic reviews with this Gary Cooper classic.  Why did Pride of the Yankees make Babe Ruth look like such a jerk?  What is Katie's opinion on wallpaper designs?  Would there be a Lou Gehrig, C.E.T. make a good movie?  We ask these questions and provide substandard answers.  

In our first biopic of the season, we review Eight Men Out.  Where's the leadoff hitter?  Why do they talk so fast?  What does Indianapolis have to do with the Black Sox?  We have no definitive answers to these questions.  But, we have fun talking about it.

In our final underdog sports movie review, we talk about the criminally underrated 1979 film, Breaking Away.  We discuss the Empire State Building, Dennis Quaid, and Chris Pratt as twins.  Oh, we also talk about movie!  

In this episode, we review Hoosiers.  Is it the greatest sports movie of all time?  Of course, My Fair Katie doesn't think so.  Is the only real flaw, though, the haircuts?  Where is Oolitic?  Download and listen to hear out thoughts.

FINALLY!!!  My Fair Katie gets around to reviewing Katie's all-time favorite movie.  Oh, but it's not so simple.  We talk about hats, apples, math, Hercules, sleep listening, and men saying things.  Plus, we talk about montages.  Lots and lots of montages.

In Season 3, we'll be reviewing Katie's favorite movie genre: Sports Movies.  Although underdog stories are her favorite, we'll also be watching biopics, character studies, and sports fantasies.  This brief intro will hopefully get you excited for our biggest season yet!

In preparing for Season 3, we discovered a 1939 movie review fro Season 1 that was never published.  Enjoy the discussion of Young Mr. Lincoln.  Is law school really that easy?  If Lincoln's first girlfriend hadn't died, would Lincoln ever have been President?  Is this more accurate than Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter?  These questions are asked, but not necessarily answered.

It's a bit late, but we discuss the movies we watched in Season 2.  Which movie is the favorite?  Which character was the best?  What was the scariest moment?  These questions and more are asked, and, this time, perhaps even answered.

In our final Halloween episode, we visit the 80s and watch Poltergeist.  Is this still scary?  Why would anyone ever own a toy clown like that?  What is acceptable snack food to take from someone else's refrigerator?  These questions are all asked and, to some extent, answered.  

For our 70s horror move, we review the unintentionally funny forgotten horror movie and Jaws rip-off, Tentacles.  How in the world did this get made?  Henry Fond, John Huston, Shelly Winter?  What were you thinking?  And the killer whales, oh the killer whales...  Words just can't do this movie justice.  Don't watch, though, just catch this recap.

For our 60s horror movie, we watched Night of the Living Dead.  We talk about zombie survival techniques and discuss this deeper meanings of the movie.

In this episode of My Fair Katie, we discuss the 50s horror classic, The Fly. Would this movie have been better with Peter Falk? How do the special effects compare to Shelob in LOTR? The questions are asked, but no definitive answers are given.
